RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno-Tahoe International Airport is among 28 national airports scheduled to get full-body security scanners this summer.
Reno-Tahoe airport spokesman Brian Kulpin says executives there will ask that installation be delayed until there's new technology that makes the scanners smaller and less invasive.
He says the current versions of the full-body scanners would take up too much room in the Reno airport's narrow corridors. That could hinder plans for new restaurants and other concessions at the airport.
Kulpin also says airport officials are concerned some travelers may feel uncomfortable going through full-body scans.
TSA officials say full-body scans would be optional.
