Highway 50 barrier replacement hearing set for next month

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — A Tahoe Regional Planning Agency hearings officer will review a Caltrans application to replace the crumbling rock wall along Highway 50 over Echo Summit at 2 p.m. on Aug. 5, according to a letter to a letter from TRPA staff.

At the review, the hearing officer will accept public comment before making a decision on the application.

Comments may also be submitted to Principal Environmental Specialist Brian Judge at bjudge@trpa.org or P.O. Box 5310, Stateline, Nevada 89449 prior to the meeting.

If the application is approved, replacement of the wall is expected to begin in May.

The application for the project is located at TRPA offices at 128 Market Street in Stateline for public review.

A staff summary of the project will be available for review seen days before the hearing, according to the letter.
