Possible city council candidate provides statement

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Potential South Lake Tahoe City Council Candidate Géorg May provided details about himself to the Tribune this week.

City Clerk Susan Alessi has issued filling papers to May, 48, to run for one of three City Council seats to be decided by voters in November. May said he is not completely sure he will file the papers, but said he would like to see a change to the current council.

“I would like to create a City Council that is cohesive and constructive, with clear written ethical standards of conduct and propriety per the grand jury investigation,” May wrote in a statement. “I want to encourage the public to participate in the South Shore's governmental process by staying informed and contacting me with their relative concerns.”

May has been a resident of South Lake Tahoe for four years.

He was a recreation management major at the University of Illinois and has previously initiated a recreation program in Glenbrook, according to the statement.

May is currently a student at Lake Tahoe Community College and plans to attend law school with a focus on civil rights, according to the statement.
