Scott Koski named golf course superintendent at Northstar

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Northstar California Resort announced the appointment of Scott Koski as the new superintendent of the Northstar Golf Course. Koski will oversee the maintenance and daily operations of Northstar’s 18-hole golf course, and will report directly to Pete Smith, head golf professional. Koski officially assumed his responsibilities on March 1, 2012.

“Scott has had tremendous success over the 23 years he’s spent working in the golf industry, and we’re thrilled to have him on the Northstar team,” said Smith. “As we prepare to open the course in the coming months, his expertise in maintenance and operation will help to offer our guests an exceptional experience on the course.”

Koski joined Northstar from the Championship Course in Incline Village, Nev. where he served as the assistant superintendent since 2005. Koski was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Championship course, including identifying future capital improvements to the course and successfully managing 20 employees with leadership and innovative training techniques. During his tenure, Incline’s Championship Course received full Audubon Sanctuary Certification status in 2010 for environmental stewardship.

Prior to working for Incline’s Championship Course, Koski was the agronomist at Seven Canyons in Sedona, Ariz. and assistant superintendent at The Valley Club in Sun Valley, Idaho. He has been a Class A superintendent member of the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America, served on the Sierra Nevada Golf Course Superintendent Association Board Directors from 2009-2010 and is a past chapter president of the Toastmasters International Public Speaking Organization.

Koski, an outdoor enthusiast, has also been a member of the National Ski Patrol at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village, Nev. since 2005, as well as an active volunteer for S’Cool Gardens, a garden education program in Santa Barbara, Calif.
