The second tournament of the Truckee Tahoe Junior Golf Tour’s (TTJGT) five-event series was held July 10 at the Coyote Moon Golf Course.
A total of 45 junior golfers competed in their respective age groups. The highlight of the competition had to be Jackson Brown’s birdie on the 9th hole to tie him for first place in the 8-9-year-old age group with Patrick Volkman. Jack won the first-place medal through a scorecard playoff starting on the 9th hole with his birdie three.
Jillian Ferre of Tahoe Donner outlasted Lauren Hickam to finish first in the girls’ 10-11 age group.
They are now tied for first in their age group for the TTJGT Junior Cup, both having a first- and second-place finish.
Quinn Early posted another strong round with a 42 to take first place again in the boys’ 12-13 division. Will Belden improved by 15 strokes from the first event to take second place shooting a 50 at Coyote Moon.
Peter McDowell of Alta Sierra posted a solid 92 to finish first overall and in the 14-15 age group. Sam Mohun of the Truckee High golf team posted a 93 to finish first in the 16-17 age group, followed by Truckee High teammate Rolando Zarate with a 101.
Zach Kirby and Pauly Buschman followed with rounds of 106 and 107, respectively. Kenzie McCormick pushed Carly Davis to second place with a nine-hole round of 70 among the 8-9 girls. Carly Davis shot 74.
Whitney Wingard and Kenzie McCormick followed closely behind.
Isaac Mozen posted an impressive 51 to win his second TTJGT title. Dylan Heins and Matthew Volkman finished second and third with scores of 59 and 60, respectively.
The next tournament in the series took place at the Resort at Squaw Creek on Tuesday, while that will be followed by another stop at Ponderosa Golf Course on July 30.
