Rob Laurie, Peter Hanson post top finishes in Lake Tahoe Triathlon

Incline Village athletes Rob Laurie and Peter Hanson represented their hometown well with a couple of top-10 finishes in the Lake Tahoe Triathlon this past Sunday.

A total of eight athletes from Incline Village competed in the event, which was held at Sugar Pine Point State Park and hosted by Big Blue Adventure out of Kings Beach.

In the Olympic-distance triathlon, Laurie posted a fourth-place finish overall among the 81 men in the field with a time of 2 hours, 41 minutes, 51 seconds. He was followed by Hanson, who placed seventh in a time of 2:45:33.

Fellow Incline Village residents Jim Kaplan and Rob Vinson also completed in the Olympic-distance triathlon, which consisted of a 0.9-mile swim in Lake Tahoe, a 24.8-mile bike ride from the park south past Emerald Bay and back along Highway 89, and a 6.9-mile run through the park.

Chris Cloyd of Truckee took the overall win in a time of 2:34:39, while Laura Driscoll was the top woman in 2:53:53. A total of 126 athletes raced the Olympic distance.

Among the women's field in the sprint-distance triathlon, Deanna Chaney of Incline Village placed 12th with a time of 1:08:35, while Tia Rancourt of Incline Village was 26th in 1:13:58.

Sarah Scott and Holly Racich, both of Incline Village, also completed the sprint triathlon, which consisted of a 500-meter swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 2-mile run.

Andrew Clusserath of Soda Springs won the sprint overall in 52:30, and Nancy Harrison of South Lake Tahoe was the top woman in 57:41. A total of 145 people participated in the sprint.
