Dog Days of Fall: Splish, splash and#8212; theyand#8217;re all taking a bath

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. and#8212; Itand#8217;s that time of year again. Dog Days of Fall will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Burnt Cedar Pool from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

As usual, there will be numerous contests for the dogs including and#8220;Best Trick,and#8221; and#8220;Best Costume,and#8221; and#8220;Owner Look-Alike,and#8221; and#8220;Wildest Belly Flop,and#8221; and#8220;Show Stopperand#8221; (best looking dog), and#8220;Most Unforgettableand#8221; (best personality and attitude) and more. Contests will be judged by members of the community including Chris Chew, Beverly Keil, Julie Marigold and Shirley Nelson. Ribbon awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each contest.

Even if your dog does not like the water, canines and humans can come just to play and sniff around. (Please, the sniffing is restricted to the dogs!) All dogs must be current on their vaccines, and no aggressive animals will be allowed. Please help us maintain our perfect record of no fights.

Most importantly, the event is all about the digs. This is the only day of the year that canines get to enjoy the pool. For the fifth year, IVGID Parks and Recreation will partner with Pet Network to host a community favorite, with Micki Napp returning as our Mistress of Ceremonies.

Because wet dogs tend to shake, come prepared to get wet while you enjoy the Parade of Dogs around the pool, the music and the gorgeous views of the lake. As Chris Chew says, and#8220;This is a frenzy of wet dogs!and#8221; And best of all ... itand#8217;s free. The gates will be open to one and all.

and#8226; Arrive with your dog on a leash and go directly to the Registration Desk to complete paperwork regarding vaccines. Once inside the pool area, you may remove the leash, assuming your dog responds to voice commands.

and#8226; Be sure your dog knows how to get out the pool. If your dog cannot use the ladder or find the stairs, you need to pull the dog from the pool which can be very difficult when the dog is wet, slippery and heavy.

and#8226; No and#8220;Brown Outsand#8221;! Each owner is responsible for Poop Patrol and bags will be provided.

and#8226; Vaccines must be current. Only healthy dogs should participate.

and#8226; Because play can be rough, puppies and fragile dogs are safest close to owners. Aggressive dogs are not welcome and will be asked to leave. Please help make this a safe and fun day for well-behaved dogs and owners.
