Village Notes: What's happening in the community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — With the crisp fall air at night Tahoe is definitely feeling fall like. Fall begins officially according to the calendar on Saturday and would be a great day to celebrate Tahoe style. We have so much to do at this time of the year and locals can partake of the many tourist attractions without leaving Tahoe.

I know that it is Street Vibrations weekend but even that will be over with soon. Be sure to take a trip around the new “gateway” into Incline Village and check out the beautiful roundabout. What a nice way to welcome visitors to our village. Thanks Don Kanare, other members of the team and all that supported this project.

The annual Incline Elementary School Jog-a-thon is Friday and always a good way to support our local schools. The annual event is to keep physical education in the school program. If you have not made a donation go online to and donate to the PTA Nevada Congress, Incline Village or call Karen Vick at kvick702sbcglobal or 775-831-0485. Donations of all sizes help.

Start your weekend out with the Dog Days of Fall on Saturday at the Burnt Cedar Pool. Even if you do not have a dog, go watch the event and you will be in the mood for fun after that.

Golf continues to be a popular sport in the village and the courses look spectacular. Yes, we do have some hole-in-one news to report too. Congratulations to: Jay Andrews on the Champ Course on Aug. 26; Steve Schleisman on Sept. 8 at the Mountain Course; Christopher LaPierre on Sept. 2 at the Mountain Course; and Anthony Tartaglio and Margo Lalchandani on Sept. 16 on the Mountain Course.

Coming next weekend is the annual Tahoe Family Solutions Bowlathon at Bowl Incline. The event is from noon-5 p.m. and I know we will have several local celebrity bowlers in the event. Hint, hint: a few locals work at this newspaper. To sign up talk to Amy at 775-298-0044. They need individuals, teams and of course spectators.

Save the Date for the annual Tahoe Fall Fest. This fun evening at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Big Water Grille promises to be a “boot stompin’ wild west” good time and is a fundraiser for Tahoe’s Connection for Families. To purchase tickets or make a donation visit or call 775-832-8230 for information.

The local bowlers that participated in the BVL Tournament last weekend had a great time and congratulations to Mike Forstrom who rolled the high tournament game with a 266. Local bowlers reported that was not easy to get 9 pins so this was quite an accomplishment. Local bowlers that made the trip down the hill include: Ronnie Rector, Susan Herron, Mike Forstrom, Budd and Mark Milazzo and Jacob Hailey. Next up is the TFS Bowling Tournament at the end of the month so will look forward to more news from that one.

Happy Anniversary to Franny and Chris Bryan on Sept. 18. Congratulations to a great couple celebrating their 8th anniversary.

Birthdays to celebrate this week: Christine Duffy, Alicia Dumonte, Charlie Kent, Marge Sylvester and Richard Thomas on Sept. 21; Susie Lynnes-Parks and Deborah Scarborough on Sept. 22; Mike Chamberlain on Sept. 23; Shasta Bacon on Sept. 25; and Alexandra Henkle and Patrick McKeon on Sept. 26. Happy Birthday
