Hyatt Lake Tahoe to honor

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino will celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month with a kick-off event Friday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. The event will mark the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month with resort-wide offerings that include pink cosmopolitan cocktails, pink sweets from Tahoe Provisions, a pampering package from the Stillwater Spa, and a special Awareness Celebration for locals, guests and resort, casino, and Hyatt High Sierra Lodge associates.

Hyatt associates will take part in Lee National Denim Day on Oct. 5 by donating $5 each to the American Cancer Society and wearing their favorite jeans to work. Team members will also decorate old jeans with messages honoring loved ones affected by breast cancer.

Bunco for Boobs!

Rachelle Anderson will host a breast cancer found raiser at the Glenshire Club House Sunday, Oct. 7, 2 p.m. It is a ladies day for the cure to raise money in memory of Norma App, her mother-in-law and a long-time local Truckee/Tahoe City child care provider who passed away June 18, 2011 after a 14-year battle. Anderson and her husband will walk 60 miles in three days with the Susan G. Komen Foundation Nov. 16-18 in San Diego. There is a $20 buy in to play two games of Bunco, raffle tickets and beverages and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. SnowFest! Scarecrow Sprint and Stroll

Following the success of last year's inaugural SnowFest! Scarecrow Sprint and Stroll, the event will return Oct. 13 with a new location and format.

Held as a fundraiser for SnowFest!, this year's event will start at Commons Beach in Tahoe City with four different races. Small children will be able to participate with a run around the Commons playground. Youth will run from Commons Beach to Christy Hill and back, or can participate with the adults in a 5K or 10K run on the newly completed Tahoe City Trail featuring views of the lake and surrounding area.

SnowFest! is encouraging teams of friends, families, co-workers or nonprofit organizations to come in costume. Awards will be presented to race winners and for the best costumes.

Women's Wellness Weekend announced

The Women's Wellness Weekend at Granlibakken Resort will be held Nov. 10-11. Cost for the two-day event is $99, and includes one breakfast, two lunches, speakers, exercise classes, local artisan vendor booths and wine, interactive health fair and more. Health professionals and nationally recognized speakers come together to offer information and inspiration on health and well-being. Add a lodging room for $59 per person.
