I think I have a decent sense of humor and usually enjoy Bob Sweigert's columns in "Grasshopper Soup." This last one somehow trying to equate al-Qaida and the NFL isn't just not funny, it's bizarre and disturbing.
He says the comparison is absurd and then goes ahead and makes it at length with what are supposed to be cute little observations. Let's keep in mind he's referring to an organization that routinely performs acts like poisoning and throwing acid in the faces of adolescent girls trying to go to school. I completely fail to see any humor.
Instead, Bob's trivializing of these acts angers me. It seems so unlike him and I'm astonished he would be so thoughtless and insensitive. Maybe he should read the accounts of some of al-Qaida's victims. I have that creepy feeling you would get catching an old friend in a perverted act.
