Mark Christopher Steffy was born July 7, 1956, in Washington, D.C. He died Sept. 22, 2012, in a motorcycle accident on Highway 267 in Kings Beach.
A North Tahoe resident for more than 30 years Mark truly embraced all the gifts Tahoe had to offer. A wallpaper contractor by trade, Mark's passion for sports and fitness led him to his future wife Janet when the spied each other while working out at the old Incline Court House, now High Altitude Fitness.
In 1989 Mark married Janet and they started their family. Their two sons Matthew, 22 and a recent graduate of CSU Cal Maritime, with a degree in Mechanical engineering and Zachary, 19, currently in his second year at the Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz were the light of his life. The family spent most of their free time sporting, camping and tinkering on their toys together.
Mark also loved to encourage, teach and share his passions with all his friends. Mark believed that passions needed to be shared to be enjoyed and could always be found sharing one of them with his many friends and family.
Mark died while doing what he and his wife enjoyed so dearly, riding his motorcycle. His caring, outgoing and tenacious heart will truly be missed.
A memorial service will take place at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 N. Lake Blvd., Kings Beach, CA, on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11 a.m.
Friends and the community are invited to celebrate with the family Mark's life well lived.
