North Tahoe soccer | Boys play Vikings to 1-1 draw

The North Tahoe boys soccer team played South Tahoe to a 1-1 tie on the road Tuesday, while the Laker girls lost 6-0 to the undefeated, two-time defending state champions.

North Tahoe boys coach Beto Alcaraz said he was pleased with his team's play, as the Lakers nearly pulled off the victory against their larger South Shore rival. But a South Tahoe goal in the 70th minute sent both teams home with a draw.

"We played incredibly well," Alcaraz said. "It was a very good game, and I'm very happy with the way we played."

North Tahoe senior Trevor Semmens put the Lakers on the board with a first-half goal. The Lakers are now 0-3-1 in Mount Rose League play and the Vikings 1-1-1.

In the girls game, South Tahoe's Ally King and Jordyn Dion scored two goals apiece to help lift the Vikings to a 12-1 record overall and 4-0 in league.

"The girls played really well," said North Tahoe coach Jon Rockwood, whose assistant, Kristin Carlson, coached the Lakers in his absence. "From what I heard, the girls were winning 50-50 balls and playing with more effort and desire.

"But South Tahoe is a great team. Their girls work well together and they maintain possession."

North Tahoe fell to 1-2-1 in league.

UP NEXT: North Tahoe will host Truckee on Friday, girls at 4 p.m. and boys at 6.
