Truckee volleyball | Wolverines breeze past Incline

TRUCKEE, Calif. - The Truckee volleyball team swept past visiting Incline in straight sets on Friday, 25-12, 25-12, 25-18.

The Wolverines built big early leads in the first two sets en route to easy wins. The Highlanders battled back in the third game, jumping out to an 8-4 lead before Truckee regrouped during a timeout and went on an 8-0 run to take over the lead for good.

"That last set was better, for sure," said Incline head coach Tacy Kelly. "We were communicating better. But Truckee is a solid team. They make plays."

Truckee head coach Erika Murphy said she used two setters in the match, which allowed regular starting setter Gabby Moretti the opportunity to swing away more, thus opening up the offense.

The coach named Moretti as her Player of the Match, as the senior finished with 16 assists, six kills, eight digs and three service aces. Chelsea Mohun also played setter, finishing with 10 assists and nine digs.

"The girls did well on the comeback in third game," Murphy said. "We dropped our play, but it was nice to see them rally."

Truckee junior outside hitter Mackenzie Redner tallied a match-high 12 kills to go along with her 10 digs, while libero Kestlie Stefanelli had a team-high 15 digs.

For Incline, Claire Kent finished with seven kills and seven digs, Kira Porter had four kills and 13 digs, Ronnie Flores had three kills and a match-high 21 digs, and Megan Golden had 15 assists and 13 digs.

Truckee improved to 15-9 overall and 5-0 in Mount Rose League play (7-0 against the Division I-A), while Incline fell to 11-8 overall and 3-3 in Mount Rose League play.
