Truckee cross country | Flora, Clusserath lead Wolverines

Sophomore Skyler Flora dominated her mostly older competition en route to another first-place finish for the Truckee girls cross country team at the Sparks Invitational this past Friday.

Flora won by a comfortable 44-second margin over Katrina Breithaupt of Dayton, posting a time of 20:26 over the 5-kilometer course. There were 138 runners total.

The win helped lead the Truckee girls to a third-place team finish behind Division I Bishop Manogue and Spanish Springs. Bishop Manogue posted a low score of 54 points, while Spanish Springs had 58 points and Truckee 72. Douglas was fourth with 75, followed by North Tahoe with 145.

Another Truckee sophomore, Gabrielle Rinne, continues to round into form after an early-season injury, as she placed ninth in 21:44. Rinne was followed by Ruby Wood, who was 16th in 22:32, Olivia Yale, who was 23rd in 22:55, and Hannah Halvorsen, who was 33rd in 23:22, rounding out the top five scores (the number used for the team score).

Kyla Burrill (39th, 23:27), Michaela Welch (64th, 25:15), Nicole Rathbun (79th, 26:26) and Chloe Champion (102nd, 28:44) also competed for the Wolverines.

On the boys side, Truckee freshman Andrew Clusserath had his highest finish as a high school athlete, placing third. Clusserath navigated the course in 17:48, trailing only North Tahoe's Noah McDermott (17:18) and Patrick McElravey (17:42).

Led by Clusserath's top-three finish, the Truckee boys finished third as a team with a score of 98 points. North Tahoe posted a winning low score of 38 points, while Douglas was second with 87. Following Truckee were Spanish Springs (108) and Fallon (124).

The rest of the Truckee boys ran bunched together, as Noah Oberriter finished 15th in 18:28, Nathan Ariza was 20th in 18:42, Alex Kopytko was 21st in 18:50 and Simeon Murphy was 49th in 20:00 to cap the scoring.

Also competing were Nick Morgan (71st, 20:46), Colin Deurlington (85th, 21:10), Jenner Tresan (21:59), Wally Meier (22:52) and Holden Reed (23:13).
