Village Notes: What's happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - We are inching closer to the end of October and so far no flakes have hit the streets of the village. Anyone willing to predict when we will have to have the streets plowed for the first time?

Saturday is the annual Incline Village Nursery School pumpkin patch at Preston Field. Stop and check out the pumpkins, silent auction bake sale and help IVNS.

Also the annual Job Fair at Diamond Peak is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Thursday, Oct. 25, is the community Trail of Treats and Terror. Everyone at the DWR Center, the IVGID Rec. Center, Lake Tahoe School and SNC are very busy decorating and preparing for the community event. Donations of candy and rope lights can be dropped off at the DWR Center before Thursday.

Rhonda at Bar Bar Bar is still holding her coat drive and you can drop the items off next time you pick up your mail. Bar Bar Bar is just across the parking lot.

It's time for a Salaam Designs Truck Show. From 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, stop and check out all the new items, enjoy refreshments and remember the proceeds help to support our local alpine racer, Lila Lapanja. The event will be at The Sanctuary Studio in Crystal Bay. For information call 775-832-8061.

We still have lovely days on the golf course left. Hole in one congrats to Mary Whalen for her ace on October 10 on the Mountain Course.

Sending out best wishes to Madonna Dunbar for a speedy recovery from her surgery. Look forward to seeing you around the village soon.

Some of our local bowlers are very busy preparing for the State Senior Bowling Tournament the first two weekends in November. This will be at the Carson Lanes and any local bowlers age 50 or more can participate. Call Bowl Incline for details.

Anniversary wishes to Jim and Genevieve Brockelsby. Congratulations!

Special Happy Birthday wishes to Sierra Sun Community Editor Amy Edgett on Sunday, Oct. 21. Other birthdays to celebrate this week: Andrew Mavin and Brittany Vidal on Oct. 20. Connie Nowlin on Oct. 21; Madonna Dunbar on Oct. 23; Tim Bauer and Rafael Olivares-Jimenezon Oct. 24. Happy Birthday all!

For Deals and Steals this week go to Dress the Part(y). This is the Incline Village official headquarters for Halloween. I stopped the other day and found one of our local restaurateurs shopping for his costume. Great Scott what a costume! Now can you guess his name?

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals and steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
