TRUCKEE, Calif. - The Truckee Police Department has received complaints of tampering with political campaign signage within the town limits, the department said Wednesday in an online release.
Theft or vandalism of political campaign signs is a local issue, and not mentioned in the California Elections Code, according to the release.
"While the Truckee Town code has no local ordinance prohibiting the theft or vandalism of political campaign signs specifically, such actions still amount to a property crime and may be criminally prosecuted as such," officials said in the release.
