I am the former General Manager/CEO of the North Tahoe Public Utility District. I am impressed with the Community involvement and Fiscal responsibility of the current Board of Directors in addressing the needs of the NTPUD. Directors Bergmann, Ferrell and Mooney have been involved in all aspects of District business which is Sewer/Water and Recreation. It has been suggested that change is needed for a variety of reasons, one of which is that there is a lack of collaboration with other agencies. I did not find this to be true during my tenure.
The District always has been involved in service delivery for utilities and has cooperated with Placer County on the KBCCIP and other public projects, resulting in mutual cost savings.
They have managed limited Recreation/Park dollars and provided facilities with grants from the State of California, Placer County, and the Resort Association. They surveyed the property owners on increasing the Recreation Tax to improve recreation facilities and services. The property owners, while supportive of more services, would not support a fee increase. This Board supports the Boys and Girls Club, Little League, AYSO, NTBA, disc golf, improved lake access and parking.
This Board has effectively managed the District financially and made the tough choices when raising rates to improve capital replacement of the aged water and sewer system. The District has limited debt and that insures rate payers are not assuming greater liability and risk and increased rates for the future.
I would ask the voters to support the current Board (Bergmann and Ferrell) incumbents and Mr. Thompson, long-time resident of this splendid community. I am writing to express my full support for these three as I know they will continue to properly and effectively manage this Utility District and provide the oversight, services, and leadership this service District needs. They are your clear choice for November 2012.
