Village Notes: What's happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Happy November! So much happens during November that I know the month will be over with in no time. Do get out there and enjoy each day because winter is just around the corner. If you have not prepared for the winter season at Tahoe now is definitely the time to do so. A good emergency kit in the car is a necessary item for all.

Remember that daylight saving time ends this weekend and you will get back the hour of sleep you lost in the spring. But the real news is that after the election on Tuesday we can answer our telephones, pick up the mail and even watch television again. Hooray.

The Trail of Treats and Terror last week was definitely a fun village event. Thank you to everyone for helping to make it a safe and fun evening for all. A special thank you to the hosts: the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center, the IVGID Rec. Center, Lake Tahoe School and Sierra Nevada College.

The Toys for Tots kick off event is Friday night. The event features Italian Night from 4-7 p.m. at Rookies. Bring an unwrapped new toy or make at least a $10 donation to Toys for Tots to attend. Remember the barrels for collection are already at locations around the village so start stuffing with new unwrapped toys, as we will have a lot of needy folks again this year.

Saturday night is the annual Chocolate, Wine and Roses Festival. This fundraiser is at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe and supports Project MANA and Tahoe Safe Alliance. The theme this year is One Night in Havana and is going to be a spectacular event. If you want to attend go to or call 775-298-0010.

This weekend and next weekend CCUSBC is hosting the State Senior Tournament down the hill at Carson Lanes. Locals are hoping for a real turnout from Incline bowlers 50 and older. Call Bowl Incline for more information if you are interested.

Happy Anniversary to Don and Marcie Johnson on Nov. 5.

Birthdays to celebrate this week include: Brian Schafer on Oct. 31 (and good luck with your new adventures on the coast); Anthony Graeber on Nov. 4; Ken Bell on Nov. 6; Billy Knight, Tom Rosenthal and Julie Thew on Nov. 7.

For deals and steals this week, go to Village Toys located on Tahoe Blvd. next to the Wildflower Cafe. You can receive a 20 percent off discount for Toys for Tots purchases. A great way to support a local business and help to fill the Toys for Tots barrels.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news along with the best deals and steals you can find to
