KINGS BEACH, Calif. - Alibi Ale Works is a new libation collaboration between Kevin Drake and Rich Romo. The duo are North Tahoe locals who've had the itch to start a brewery for years and are excited to pool their collective talents to open Kings Beach's first and only brewery in early 2013.
Romo and Drake want locals to expect progressive interpretations of traditional beer styles as well as experimental beers using local and non-traditional ingredients, wild fermentation techniques and wood barrel aging.
Alibi Ale Works plans to produce relatively small batches (100 gallons) to offer a range of beer styles and flavors, emphasizing and responding to community feedback.
Romo and Drake refer to brewing as the perfect integration of art, craft and a bit of mad scientist. Already considered mavericks with their creations, they are known to take classic beer styles and draw outside of the lines to produce something special and unique every time. The objective of this brain child brewery is "to produce handcrafted, suspiciously tasty beers."
Alibi Ale Works beer will be available through its tasting room, CSA-style growler club and at a few select tap accounts throughout North Tahoe and Truckee. Locals are encouraged to help transform Lake Tahoe water into delicious beer by supporting the upcoming "Kickstarter.com" campaign beginning Nov. 12.
