Project MANA announces annual Let's Talk Turkey program

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. - On Saturday, Nov. 17, Project MANA will help hundreds of local families have a happy, healthy Thanksgiving through its annual Let's Talk Turkey Food Distribution. With the help of dozens of social service agencies, schools and churches throughout North Lake Tahoe and Truckee, Project MANA is working to identify as many community members as possible who need assistance to provide a Thanksgiving meal for their families.

In 2011, nearly 700 local families received turkeys through Project MANA's Let's Talk Turkey Food Distribution. This year, given the continued economic downturn, Project MANA expects to serve that many families, if not more. Thanks to generous donations from the community, each community member who signs up and attends the distribution will be able to bring home a whole turkey, fresh produce and other fixings for a holiday meal. For $25 you can sponsor a local family's Thanksgiving meal.

Let's Talk Turkey Food Distributions will be held at the following three locations, Nov. 17, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Kings Beach: Kings Beach Elementary School at 8125 Steelhead Ave.

Incline Village: Donald W. Reynolds Community Nonprofit Center at 948 Incline Way

Truckee: Community Arts Center at 10046 Church St.

To sign up yourself or someone you know to receive a turkey, contact schools, churches, or social service agencies. To volunteer for Let's Talk Turkey Food Distribution or to make a donation, contact Project MANA at 775-298-0008 or visit www.projectmana.org.
