Village Notes: What's happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The creeping crud seems to be going around the village right now. The best way to avoid it is to stay outside - do not go into a closed area with people that are sick.

Instead, go to the Hacienda's anniversary party tonight (Jan. 24) before going into hibernation. Hope this stuff ends quickly as we have a lot of winter left at Tahoe. Plus with the Super Bowl ahead, no one wants to miss out on the parties that will be on in Tahoe this year. Of course for the Lions, Packers and Vikings fans living here (we all know who you are), there is always next year!

Remember that we have several events happening this weekend in the village. First up is the annual Community Snowshoe Hike to Snowflake Lodge. It is on Friday night, Jan. 25, and you need to sign up to participate. Stop at the Rec. Center to sign up or call 775-832-1177.

On Saturday, Jan. 26, the Incline High School Crab and Pasta Feed is at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom. For information visit www.inclinecrabfeed.com.

Tahoe Safe Alliance has a couple of events coming up. A ski day at Sugar Bowl is Sunday, Feb. 3 and the annual Father/Daughter Dance at the Tahoe Biltmore is Friday, Feb. 8. Information for both events can be found by visiting www.tahoesafealliance.org.

The Ullrfest activities at Diamond Peak will take place from Friday, Feb. 8, to Sunday, Feb. 10. They do have a poker tournament on Thursday night, Feb. 7, too. For a complete list of events visit www.dpsef.org and plan to attend. The annual Torchlight Parade is always spectacular.

Congratulations to local artist Ronnie Rector. Her painting "Faire Queen" is now hanging in the Reno Little Theater on Pueblo Street. The painting will be displayed until April 29, so head down and take a look.

Also anyone interested in ordering Girl Scout cookies should call Ronnie Rector at 775-832-2210. Orders will be delivered at the end of February.

Happy Anniversary on Jan. 31 to John and Suzy Lusk. Congratulations.

Birthdays to celebrate this week include: Katie Nelson on Jan. 17; Pandora Bahlman, Keagan Belletich, Kane Sasani-Bleers and Laurel Jones on Jan. 25; Justin April, Hank Echter, Samantha Gough, Aaron Muzio, Jaclyn Ream, Jan Schumacher and Brad Wilson on Jan. 27; and Brad Brink, Josh Lindsey, Patrick McCune and Jim Whitson on Jan. 30. Happy Birthday!

For deals and steals this week I do not think we can find a better deal than free skiing at Diamond Peak next week. All residents with a current IVGID picture pass or punch cards who don't have a season pass can ski or ride free each day from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3. Go enjoy your mountain!

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals and steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com. Don't forget to send in Super Bowl Party ideas, too.
