Led by top-three finishes from Ruby Wood, Quinntin Butler and Ryan Murphy, the Wolverines claimed the overall team victory in a CNISSF snowboard race at Northstar last Monday.
In the boys race, Butler finished runner-up to Jacob Peek of Placer High, posting a two-run combined time of 2:10.94 to Peek's 2:01.37 in the giant slalom race. Murphy followed in third place, with a time of 2:11.13.
Konrad Przybyslawski led the North Tahoe boys, as he finished fifth in 2:13.80, while Truckee's Casey Curtis was the next-best finisher for the Lakers or Wolverines in 22nd. There were 42 boys total.
The Placer boys took the team win with 1,497 points. Truckee's boys were second with 1,426 points, followed by Davis (1,410), Nevada Union (1,345), Colfax (1,338) and North Tahoe (720), which had only two racers.
Wood finished second for the Wolverines in the girls race, posting a time of 2:07.47 to Colfax winner Nelly Steinhoff's 2:05.92. Drew Bernadette of Nevada Union was third in 2:10.61.
Roxy Schumann led the Laker girls with a fifth-place finish in 2:17.70, while teammate Courtney Peters was ninth in 2:25.70, Brie Dubuc 15th in 2:35.51 and Sierra Aildasani 21st in 2:43.55.
Truckee's Sofie Maciel finished 10th in 2:26.08, while Claire Roberts was 12th in 2:27.35, Nichole Graham was 14th in 2:31.96 and Wynter Lim was 19th in 2:40.86. A total of 35 girls raced.
The Truckee girls came in second as a team behind Nevada Union, with 1,475 points to Nevada Union's 1,490. North Tahoe's girls were third with 1,440 points and were followed by Placer (1,336), Davis (1,320) and Colfax (1,050).
The second-place finishes by both their boys and girls teams gave the Wolverines the overall win with a combined score of 2,901 points. Nevada Union was second with 2,835 points, followed by Placer (2,833), Davis (2,730), Colfax (2,388) and North Tahoe (2,160).
