Diamond Cup Challenge returning to Diamond Peak

The Diamond Peak Ski Team is set to host the 12th Annual Diamond Cup Challenge community fun race on Saturday, March 9.

All proceeds from this popular spring event benefit the Diamond Peak Ski Team's youth racing and freeride programs. A number of race categories will be included: Individuals (age/sex groups), Family, Husband/Wife, Father/Son, Father/Daughter, Mother/Son, Mother/Daughter.

Children of any age, regardless of experience, are welcome to participate. Awards will be given to the top three competitors in each race/age category. Refreshments will be available during awards ceremony

The entry fee is $15 per racer and includes two runs on the "friendly" race course - a dual giant slalom format on Lower Show-Off. Participants may purchase "mulligans," $5 each for extra runs. The two best runs are calculated for best times.

Registration will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Diamond Peak Lodge. The race will begin at directly after registration closes.

Pre-register by dropping off a completed application, liability release, and check for the entry fee at the Diamond Peak Ski Team shack in the upper level parking lot. Each competitor must have a lift ticket or Diamond Peak season pass to participate.

Diamond Peak's annual Jiblet competition is scheduled for Saturday, March 16.

The event offers the opportunity for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders to demonstrate the best jibbing and jumping skills possible in a timed, jam-format terrain park competition along the front of the Base Lodge deck.

Entry is $10 and cash prizes are awarded to the top finisher in each of four divisions.

The competition offers four divisions: skiers 15 and younger and 16 and older, and snowboarders 15 and younger and 16 and older.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. the day of the event and closes promptly at 10:30 a.m. at the Base Lodge. Competition starts at 11 a.m. and is followed by an awards ceremony at 2 p.m. on the deck of the Base Lodge.

Skiers and snowboarders who do not wish to participate in the competition are invited to enjoy lunch and live music on the Base Lodge deck while cheering on the competitors.
