Two injured in helicopter crash

Two men were injured when a helicopter crashed near Buck Island Lake and the Rubicon Trail on Friday afternoon, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.

One man with head injuries and a second man with leg injuries were flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The two men were among four people aboard the helicopter when it crashed, the sheriff’s office said in a press statement about the incident.

Authorities were notified of the crash at about 1 p.m. The helicopter was assisting with the annual Jeep Jamboree event this weekend.

As of early Friday evening the Rubicon Trail remained closed with officers standing by the wreckage. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
