Why won't God heal amputees?
So why are atheists so concerned about God if he doesn't exist? They spend countless hours coming up with foolish little questions to cast doubts on the existence of God. The funny thing about this question is that it's a twist on what creationists have stumped evolutionists with - the origin of life on planet Earth demands a first cause. Essentially, the evolutionary position on this issue presumes that at some time in the distant past, living matter began to develop from nonliving matter. How the living sprang from the nonliving is totally inexplicable by human wisdom, and any rationale offered by men is sheer speculation. The fact that God brought forth life from nothing in the past shows that he is able to, so it's good to see Damian Sowers concede the point that God can bring forth something out of nothing (Freethinker's Forum, Dec. 28).
With that point made, let me address Sowers' statement, "God must really hate amputees." First, he says the word "hate" where there is no reason to draw that conclusion. Just because God supposedly doesn't do something doesn't mean he hates them. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, the Apostle Paul's prayers went unanswered. Instead, this is what the Lord said to him: "But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.' "
Secondly, God has healed all amputees: God stopped the bleeding, didn't he? In order to be an amputee, you're alive, praise God. The amputee in most cases has given up their limb to save their life - cancer, gangrene, etc. This resembles what Christ did on the cross by willingly giving up his life for ours. So it's for the glory of God that amputees remind us of his son's sacrifice on the cross for the sins we have committed.

Tigers should not be treated as oversize pets
On Christmas Day, the same day one boy was killed by an escaped tiger in California and two others were mauled, another tiger was found shot to death alongside an apartment complex in Dallas.
Tigers do not belong in backyard cages. Please support Haley's Act, HR 1947, or a similar bill to end the breeding of big cats outside of the internationally sanctioned Species Survival Plans administered by accredited zoos.
