The South Lake Tahoe Lodging Association is hosting a presentation of its proposed business improvement district to benefit tourism. The meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today at Embassy Suites.
The association met a month ago, at which time lodging President Jerry Bindel provided an overview of reasons behind the lodging group in town opting to tax their guests more to pay for tourism efforts implemented by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.
This time, the consultant paid for by the LTVA will detail the structure of the proposed BID. It's intended to tack on $2 to $3 per room, per night in addition to the 10 to 12 percent hotels and vacation rentals charge their guests. If approved by lodging and implemented by the city, the district would become effective Nov. 1.
