Joseph 'Joe' Rapic

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, Dec. 2, for Joseph "Joe" Rapic, who passed away Nov. 12, 2006, at Barton Memorial Hospital.

Joe was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Ruth, Nev. For the past 26 years he had owned homes and resided in both Gardnerville, Nev., and Cave Rock, Nev. Joe served in the U.S. Navy as seaman 2nd class during World War II and was employed by Southern Gas Co. in Orange County, Calif., for 40 years.

He enjoyed music and as a teenager he sang at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. He loved to ballroom dance and was a good athlete. He also enjoyed traveling.

He was a pilot and was involved in mining in his younger years. Joe had a great personality and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his brother, George Rapic Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; stepson, Myron White of Los Angeles.; stepdaughter, Charlene Capek of Arizona; nephews, Dennis Dawson and Tary Dawson, both of Seattle, Wash., Robert Kane of Los Angeles and Frank Taucher of Oklahoma; niece, Mary Ann Reed of Corona, Calif.; and loving partner, Marie Cudia of South Lake Tahoe. He was predeceased by his wife, Christiane Rapic; father, George Rapic Sr.; mother, Jenny Rapic; and sisters, Mary Taucher, Ann Dawson and Esther Kane.

A celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1041 Lyons Ave. A reception will follow in the social hall.

In lieu of flowers donations in Joe's memory may be made to the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center Building Fund, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150.
