Barton Memorial Hospital's first baby of 2008 arrived at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Brock Jack Vasey was born to Chris and Shaunda Vasey of Genoa. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 20 inches.

The New Year's baby's footprint will be immortalized on the hospital's wall with a Footprint Medallion, courtesy of the Barton Foundation.

That's just one part of the $2,100 in goods and services donated to Brock and his parents.

The gifts include a one-month free diaper service courtesy of Earthsmart Diaper Service and an oak rocking chair from Bijou Furniture Outlet.

"This was a very nice surprise," said the new mom of her large gift basket.
