TRPA evacuates briefly after possible natural gas leak

Print Comment
A gas leak this afternoon forced the evacuation of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency building in Stateline.

At about 3:05 today an odor — thought to be from a natural gas leak — was detected at the TRPA administration building on Market Street.

A decision was made to evacuate the building of all employees and visitors. About 50 people were affected, said Dennis Oliver, a communications team spokesman for the agency.

Douglas County fire responded and checked the building with air monitoring equipment and it was deemed safe to allow employees to enter at about 3:25 p.m., Oliver said.
