Saturday's ski and board report for Sierra-at-Tahoe, Kirkwood and Heavenly

<b>HEAVENLY MOUNTAIN RESORT</b>

Good morning skiers and boarders. Welcome to another epic weekend on the slopes. Groomers picks of the day are Ellie’s on the California side and Ponderosa on the Nevada side. Winds should increase through the day as the storm rolls in and may affect lift operations, according to Heavenly’s Web site. Call (800) HEAVENLY go to www.skiheavenly.com for the latest.

<b>Lifts:</b> All lifts open except for World Cup. Six terrain parts open.

<b>Forecast:</b> Increasing clouds, winds and snow thorugh the day with temperatures in the low 20s.

<b>New snow:</b> 7 to 8 inches in the past 48 hours.

<b>Base depth (on trails w/ snowmaking):</b> 70-92 inches.

<b>Surface conditions:</b> Powder, packed powder, skier packed-powder, machine-groomed snow.

<b>KIRKWOOD MOUNTAIN RESORT</b>

<b>Lifts:</b> 10 lifts open, 65 trails open, 35 trails groomed. Four terrain parks open.

<b>Forecast:</b> Chance for light snow, high in the 20s.

<b>Roads:</b> Highway 88 West Carson Pass Tahoe side OPEN with no restrictions. Highway 88 East Jackson side is open with no restrictions.

<b>New snow:</b> 10 to 14 inches in past 48 hours.

<b>Base depth (on trails w/ snowmaking):</b> 119-147 inches from top to bottom.

<b>Surface conditions:</b> Powder, skier-packed powder, machine groomed, hard pack.

<b>Cross Country:</b> Kirkwood Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe continues to groom all 80 kilometers of trail each morning. Meadow trails are groomed first then the trails at the Xcountry lodge, before heading up to Coyote Pass at the top of the trail system. The traditional classic skiing is great in these cold conditions. Upcoming Ski Skate Clinic on Feb. 10. 

<b>Events:</b> Mardi Gras Celebration today through Feb. 5. Live music with Subjec to Change on Saturday. Kirkwood Cup Freeride Series on Sunday. Super Bowl party on Sunday.

<b>SIERRA-AT-TAHOE</b>

Recent storms have brought Sierra-at-Tahoe more than 5 feet of snow, according to its Web site. More is on the way later this afternoon.

<b>Lifts:</b> 12 lifts open, 48 trails open.

<b>Forecast:</b> Snow in the late afternoon with a high in the mid-30s. Winds 5-20 mph.

<b>New snow:</b> 13 inches in past 48 hours.

<b>Base depth:</b> 64-118 inches from top to bottom.

<b>Snow reporter’s comments:</b> “Button up your powder skirt and get some freshies.”

<b>Surface conditions:</b> Powder, machine groomed, packed powder.

<b>Events:</b> USASA Slopestyle competition today. Open to amateur skiers and snowboarders of all ages. Register between 8 a.m. And 9:45 a.m. on the day of event at the Aspen Cafe. On Sunday Sierra-at-Tahoe invites skiers and boarders to check out the Superbowl in the Sierra Pub and enjoy food and drink specials, party favors and raffle prizes. Fun for the entire family.
