Provided to the Tribune May 2, 2008 PrintEmail The Tahoe Choir, in conjunction with the Lake Tahoe Community College chorus, now in its 36th season, will perform two concerts at St. Theresa Catholic Church. The performances will be at 8 p.m. May 16 and at 3 p.m. May 18. Parking is free, and audience members are encouraged to allow enough time for seating before the concerts begin.
Admission is $10 general and $8 for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased in advance from choir members and at the LTCC bookstore. They also will be sold at the door a half-hour before each of the performances.
The first half of the program will feature double-chorus music by Mozart's "friends," including the romantic "Leoto Godea" ("Joy Fills My Heart") by Gaabrielli, and "Howi Ye" by American contemporary composer Randall Thompson.
The prolific Mozart will be represented by his immortal "Requiem" in the second half of the concerts. The choir will be conducted by Linda Mitchell and accompanied by pianist Salli Parker and the string quintet The String Beings. As a special feature, Parker and Mo Leonard, music director at St. Theresa, will play one of Mozart's works for one piano and four hands, "Piano Sonata in C Major."
