Event to honor retiring school personnel

The Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation will host the 19th annual Celebration of Education from 6 to 9 p.m. May 29 at Harrah's Lake Tahoe special events center. The public is invited to attend and honor retiring personnel from the Lake Tahoe Unified School District.

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. with no-host cocktails, and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $35 per person, and reservations may be made by contacting Del Laine at (530) 544-6249 or lainetahoe@aol.com. Reservations must be made by May 23, and tables may be arranged at additional cost.

Retiring personnel who will be honored are:

-- Cyndy Horn, 1996-2008 - Tahoe Valley Elementary.

-- Ruth Martin, 1994-2008 - LTUSD.

-- Gloria Helms, 1977-79 and 1991-2007 - South Tahoe High School; Bus Transportation Department.

-- Armando Cruz, 1992-2007 - LTUSD.

-- Carole Colomy, 1991-2007 - LTUSD.

-- Tom Reyes, 1991-2007 - South Tahoe High School.

-- Jim Pawling, 1989-2008 - Al Tahoe Elementary School, South Tahoe Middle School.

-- Anita McIntosh, 1988-2007 - Sierra House and Bijou Elementary schools, South Tahoe High; SARB Advocate; Al Tahoe Elementary, South Tahoe High and Educational Center.

-- Peggy Lease, 1988-2008 - Al Tahoe and Sierra House elementary schools.
