Two Moultons and one Grady added up to three On Your Way Award winners at Sierra House Elementary School.

Throughout the South Shore each school year, students are recognized by Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra for their efforts and improvements in reading and literacy. Each honored student receives an award and a gift card to a bookstore, and the school receives a book for its library in the names of the honorees. Sierra House Elementary highlighted the achievements of three of their students.

Summit Moulton
Summit Moulton is a third-grade student in Ms. Martin's class. His favorite book is "Frog and Toad."

His teacher described why he has earned this award. "Summit has worked very hard to improve his reading using the Waterford Intervention Program, reading books along with other specialized materials."

Summit said that he likes reading because, "Once I read, I know what happens in the story."

Gabrielle Grady
Gabrielle Grady's fourth-grade reading teacher, Mr. Blachman, said, "Gabby has a never-give-up attitude. She has made tremendous gains in every aspect of reading.

Benjamin Moulton
Gabby wants to be successful and does whatever it takes to do so."

Gabby's favorite book is "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." She likes the different personalities in stories, especially if they have personalities like hers.

Benjamin Luke Moulton has been working hard in all subjects and has made great improvement, according to his fifth-grade teacher, Ms. Wilson.

He likes "The Chronicles of Narnia" because "it is a good story, and the author is great." Luke reads fiction and nonfiction and thinks "just knowing what's going on is interesting. I usually read every day," he said.
