Tahoe: Lost & Found, an art show and other events, will try to recapture the sense of community that existed during the Angora fire. The show also will raise money to replace a burn-area landmark tree and library books lost in the fire. The art show starts Wednesday with a kickoff party from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Loft at the Blue Angel Cafe, 1132 Ski Run Blvd.
Tahoe: Lost & Found fundraising events, art show and promotions will run until Sept. 19, culminating with an art auction on that day at the Valhalla Grand Hall at the Tallac Historic Site.
At Wednesdays event, the Underground Artists will show their art and answer questions about the show and auction. Local illustrator Kristen Schwartz will sell a limited edition of Lake Mother prints to help raise money. She completed the illustration the day the Angora fire was contained. Barbara Wesson, a local potter, and Melissa Lanitis Gregory, a mixed-media artist, also will present a selection of their work.
While the event is free, a $5 donation is suggested. Light appetizers will be served, there will be drink specials and a $7.95 pasta dinner will be offered.
Donations and a percentage of the proceeds from the art sold will go to the Tahoe: Lost & Found Fund to replace library books lost in the fire and the burn-area landmark tree.
