Law enforcement officers investigate the scene of a motorcycle accident on lower Kingsbury Grade this morning.
A Gardnerville woman is in critical condition today after crashing her motorcycle on the lake side of Kingsbury Grade, authorities said.
The accident happened near Juniper Drive on a sharp curve at about 7:55 a.m. The 44-year-old motorcyclist was westbound on Kingsbury Grade, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Hartline.
Another vehicle, described as a white pickup, was in the eastbound lane and made a left-hand turn onto Juniper in front of the motorcyclist, Hartline said.
The woman locked her brakes to avoid collision and was ejected from the motorcycle, he said. She was wearing a helmet and was transported by Care Flight helicopter to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
An eyewitness, who was traveling behind the motorcyclist, saw the accident. The driver of the white pickup who made the turn has not been located and did not stop to help.
NHP is asking for any witnesses to the accident to contact them regarding the case, which is under investigation. Call (775) 688-2500.
