The Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition, a regional bicycle advocacy organization, will begin an achievement award to bring attention to people and organizations who have made significant contributions to the advancement of cycling in the Lake Tahoe region.
This award will be called the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Achievement Award and is planned to be given annually.
Anyone may submit a nomination in one or all four award categories. These categories include: Individual, business, governmental agency and non-profit organization.
Interested parties may submit a nomination for consideration by simply mailing or e-mailing the following details to the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition:
— Nominee's name, affiliation, if appropriate, their contact information (telephone number preferred) and a brief description — along with any supportive materials like press clippings, photographs, etc. — of their contribution to advancing cycling issues, facilities or public awareness.
Nominations may be mailed to the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition at PO Box 1147, Zephyr Cove, NV 89448. Nominations must be recieved no later than Aug. 1, 2008. Nominations received after Aug. 1, 2008 will not be considered. Nominations may also be sent via e-mail to

All nominations will be reviewed by an Awards Committee comprised of Bike Coalition members. The Committee will make their award selections based on the merit of each nominee's cycling contribution. The committee's selections are final.
Award recipients will then be notified and invited to the Awards Ceremony held on Saturday, June 6, 2008, during intermission of the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Film Festival, held at the Horizon Hotel Casino in Stateline, Nev. At that time, a brief presentation will be given about each award recipient's contribution warranting their recognition and Award.
“The awards are one small way of recognizing and bringing attention to the good work performed by many in the Lake Tahoe region. It's a way of publically saying thank you — we appreciate your contribution to Tahoe cycling,” said Coalition President, Ty Polastri.
