Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain plans to come to the north shore of Lake Tahoe on July 29 for a private fundraiser.
The fundraiser will be held at the home of Incline Village residents Bob and Jan Davidson, founders of the Davidson Institute for profoundly gifted students at the University of Nevada, Reno.
We are pleased to have the opportunity to honor Sen. McCain by hosting an event for him at our house, said Bob Davidson. Obviously, we are very impressed by him and endorse his candidacy for president of the United States. By having him visit our home, we hope to give other Nevadans the opportunity to meet him and hear his plans for the future of our country.
The luncheon event will be co-hosted by T.J. Day and Skip Avansino. A VIP reception begins at noon and the lunch and photo opportunity begins at 12:30 p.m. For information on how to attend, contact Karen Hammond, at (801) 201-0859 or kwhammond@gmail.com by July 24.
Tickets for the VIP reception are $33,100 per person, $2,300 for the luncheon and photo tickets, and $1,000 per person just for the luncheon.
Contributions for the $33,100 VIP reception will be divided between different funds including John McCain 2008, John McCain 2008 General Election Compliance Fund, the Republican National Committee and the state parties federal accounts in compliance with federal limits.
It will be McCains third campaign stop to the state since gaining enough delegates to secure the nomination.
I think its a great idea to have Mr. McCain in Incline, said Jim Clark, president of Republican Advocates. Most people think the guy has enough character to show that hes the guy who has the experience to make the right decisions.
Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama has not solidified a trip to Nevada yet, said Nayyera Haq, spokeswoman for the Obama campaign.
His schedule is not set yet, Haq said. He is doing a Middle East trip. We expect he will visit Nevada before the general election.
