“Bucket of Cabo,” still life by Aaron Hagar
Aaron Hagar has been called back for an encore.
The South Shore artist will appear along with about two dozen of his paintings at Marcus Ashley Galleries from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.
Hagar’s appearance coincides with his father’s doubleheader concert at Harveys Outdoor Arena. Sammy Hagar played an indoor show at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe earlier this summer, and many of his fans visited the gallery to meet the younger Hagar and view his work. Thousands more fans are here this week because the outdoor venue is much larger and the concert opens with Hagar reuniting with the band Montrose.
“It was such a massive success we had to do it again,” said Liv Sharp, the senior art consultant at Marcus Ashley. “There is support for Red Rocker culture in all possible ways, and Aaron’s artwork is a new way to do that.”
Aaron Hagar paints a variety of subjects. “Some people say it’s schizophrenic, but I say it’s versatile,” he said.
His paintings range from illustrations to portraits to wildlife to cinema and rock ‘n’ roll.
He also will present “Buckets of Cabo,” an original still life celebrating his father’s favorite drink. His paintings display bold contrasts of color.
Hagar might have to greet people with his left hand: He damaged his right shoulder during an incident involving a 600-pound black bear outside his Mountain View Estates home.
Hagar also paints cars, and his work appears to have a bit of the influence of Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, whose son also has a Tahoe art show this weekend.
Marcus Ashley Galleries is in Raley’s Village Center near Heavenly Village Center in South Lake Tahoe.
