Fundraiser tonight for motorcycle crash victim

Friends and family of a 44-year-old South Tahoe native and schoolteacher injured in a motorcycle crash last month on the lake side of Kingsbury Grade will hold a benefit dinner and auction, today, Friday Aug. 15, in Genoa.

Kathy Bluethman continues her recovery after the crash. A South Tahoe High School graduate, Bluethman is a substitute teacher in Douglas County and was an STHS teacher and track coach for 12 years.

Because Bluethman doesn't have health insurance, her medical bills are mounting, said family friend and neighbor Gail Taylor of Gardnerville. So Taylor and others have organized the benefit dinner and auction at Genoa Lakes Golf Club, where Bluethman also worked.

The fundraiser will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday. There will be dinner, live music, a raffle, auction and prizes. Tickets are $25, with all proceeds to benefit Bluethman. Donations also can be made at any California or Nevada Bank of America branch to the Kathy Bluethman Medical Fund.

For more information, call Taylor at (775) 586-4544 or e-mail maries@genoalakes.com.
