Heavenly launches Community Clean-Up Day

Print Comment
On Aug. 14, nearly 60 volunteers from Heavenly Mountain Resort descended on the neighborhoods bordering Heavenly's California Lodge for the first annual Heavenly Community Clean-Up Day.

Heavenly initiated Community Clean-Up Day to consolidate cleanup efforts by tidying up after resort guests who park on the border streets during the winter and to help Heavenly continue its relationship with the surrounding communities. Resort employees collected more than 10 pickup truck beds full of trash, including a broken-down washing machine, a 200-pound generator, an old mattress and a chest of drawers.

"Our employees came out on one of the hottest days of the year to show their commitment to and pride in this neighborhood we share with the community," said Les Marsh, Heavenly's vice president of Human Resources. "Even though our base area crews do a lot of cleanup in the spring, there was still a large amount of trash out there. Every participant felt good about leaving our neighborhood and our environment in better shape than before."

Heavenly plans to continue the program every spring and fall, rotating between the California and two Nevada base areas.
