Busy City Council meeting ahead

The South Lake Tahoe City Council will meet Tuesday starting at 9 a.m., but the first part of the meeting - from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - will be a budget workshop.

After a 30-minute lunch recess, the council will move on to the rest of its agenda, including the response to the grand jury report on the police department.

Also in the afternoon, a public hearing is scheduled regarding a proposed fee increase for permits to operate homes as vacation rentals.

The council will hear a presentation from the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce on plans to apply for a federal, basinwide prosperity plan grant. And council members will view a 13-minute video called "How to Have a Farmers Market in Your Town."

City Attorney Catherine DiCamillo has announced that she will retire when her contract expires at the end of January, and Mayor Mike Weber said Tuesday that he'll ask that the issue of finding a replacement be placed on an agenda for a future meeting. Weber said he would like to form a council subcommittee to look at questions including whether the city should have a full-time attorney or if the position should be contracted.

The council meets in council chambers at the Lake Tahoe Airport. For more information, see www.cityofslt.us.
