Just as skiers and snowboarders have started wondering what weather the winter will bring, Knock on Wood is available at South Shore snowboard shops.
Knock on Wood is the seventh snowboard movie from First Tracks Productions. The DVD highlights riders Alexis Roland, Antti Autti, Ben Wynn, Chase Harriman, Chris Bartowski, Cody Lewis, Dave King, Drew Brighton, Jordan Nield, Mike Abeliuk and Todd Williamson all over North America, Europe and Japan, but it trains an especially sharp focus on the First Tracks home, the South Shore.
Most of the riders featured are based in Tahoe, said Anthony Cupaiuolo of First Tracks. Even with the snow year we had last year, we were able to get quite a bit done in and around Tahoe.
The film and the teaser trailer at www.firsttracksproductions.com highlight a segment at Sierra-at-Tahoe with a giant kicker over the sign in front of the resort.
Sierra-at-Tahoe really went above and beyond and built some special stuff for us to shoot after the resort closed, Cupaiuolo said.
The last time Lake Tahoe Action talked with Cupaiuolo, the filmmaker was headed to the log slides near the Sierra House school while the first big storm of the season was dumping snow on Tahoe. The segment First Tracks filmed there made it into Knock On Wood, as did 9-year-old Alexis Rolands week in the backcountry and on the streets.
Weve worked with her before, but we only got to go out there a couple of days a year, Cupaiuolo said Her stuff is really cool because everybody around town will recognize some of the spots she was at, and shes just this little pipsqueak out killing it.
In that same all-ages vein, First Tracks has planned a free premiere Oct. 11 at MontBleu Casino Resort and Spa.
There arent too many venues in town where you can have all ages and you can serve alcohol, so its kind of cool to be able to do that, Cupaiuolo said.
