All South Lake Tahoe fire engines have been called out to a brush fire at Barton Meadow as crews continue to look for ways to access the area with the heavy trucks.

The fire is reported to be 100-by-100 feet and growing. It is located in the meadow near Argonaut and El Dorado Ave. in South Lake Tahoe. No structures are threatened at this time. A pall of smoke from the fire can be seen from as far away as Stateline.

The initial call to dispatch came in at around 3:20 this afternoon.

The wind is blowing in a south-easterly direction and reports are there is a fire break along a creek. All off duty South Lake Tahoe firefighters have been requested to go to Station 3 to meet up for instructions.

An engine has been assigned to structure protection.

A handcrew team from the U.S. Forest Service is responding.
