A 100-by-100 foot brush fire is burning this afternoon in the meadow near Argonaut and El Dorado Ave. in South Lake Tahoe. Several fire trucks are responding.
Smoke is visible in the area but there are not many flames, according to police scanner traffic. The initial call to the fire came in at around 3:20 this afternoon.
No structures are threatened at this time. The wind is blowing in a south-easterly direction and reports are there is a fire break along a creek. All off duty South Lake Tahoe firefighters have been requested to go to Station 3.
An engine has been assigned to structure protection.
South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and handcrews from the U.S. Forest Service are responding.
