The U.S. Forest Service and firefighters on the scene report the fire burning near Fallen Leaf and Lake Tahoe this afternoon has grown to about 3 acres but that the spread of it appears to be slowing.
The fire is at the base of Angora Ridge Road on California Tahoe Conservancy land and is considered an active fire but with low to moderate rate of speed, said Rex Norman, spokesman for the Forest Service.
There are homes in the area. It is windy and crews are watching the rate of spread, Norman added.
Seven units have responded to the scene, however three that were asked to help have been called back, Norman said.
"That's always a good sign," he said.
The cause of the fire is unknown, however Norman reports that there may have been some slash pile burns done on the property by other agencies.
"We are trying to nail it down," Norman said.
