Boasting the most open terrain and best surface conditions at Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort announced today the resort will open more terrain on Friday, Dec. 5, with the possibility of even more openings this weekend.
Heavenly plans to open Big Dipper trail on Friday which, paired with Orion's which has been open since Nov. 28, gives Heavenly two mile-long intermediate cruisers on the resort's upper Nevada side.
Heavenly now shifts the West Coast's largest snowmaking system onto Comet and California Trail, with the hope to open even more terrain this weekend.
While the resort waits for natural snow (which could materialize at the end of next week), Heavenly will continue making snow as often as possible to provide the best conditions for the upcoming Christmas holiday.
"When Mother Nature doesn't want to cooperate, the power of our snowmaking system really gives us a leg up on the competition," said Russ Pecoraro, Heavenly's director of communications.
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Heavenly offers all the elements of a snowsports holiday vacation: sightseeing, zip line rides, sledding, snow play, ice skating, shopping and fine dining.
