Since breaking onto the scene in 2004, the Pnuma Trio has kept an eye on the future and now the future is here at Lake Tahoe.
Paesano Productions is bringing the Pnuma Trio to the West Coast for three shows, one at the MontBleu and two in San Francisco. On Saturday, Jan. 31, the trio will join DJ AD/AM (of South Shore electronica acts Absynth and Chip Chop) and Snareface (of the Flying Skulls and the Lowpro Lounge in San Francisco) for a show at the Opal Ultra Lounge. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the show is at 10.
On its debut album, Character (1320 Records), the Pnuma Trios goal is to capture the energy of its live show and the evolution of its sound. Pnuma has replaced long synthesizer solos with careful layering, according to a press release from the group. Instead of building each song to a climax, the band allows the 808-driven grooves to percolate, creating atmosphere. The band produced Character, which includes a bonus track featuring Crown City Rockers MC Rashaan Ahmad.
The trio Ben Hazelgrove, Alex Botwin and Lane Shaw has had a busy year already, playing the Rothbury, All Good and Camp Bisco festivals, and continues to support in support of Character, which is available for download at 1320records.com.
Snareface is a producer for the Flying Skulls of San Francisco.
