SOUTH LAKE TAHOE Patients looking for an ear, nose and throat specialist dont have to go to Carson City to see a specialist now that Dr. Ronald C. Roth is practicing on the South Shore. And anyone in need of head and neck surgery, or facial plastic surgery or reconstruction, may also stay right here in town and make an appointment with Roth.
Roth, who is board-certified in otolaryngology, is now seeing new patients at 2175 South Ave., across from Barton Memorial Hospital, the same building thats shared by Dr. Paula Crenshaw and Dr. Gary Cooper. Roths office days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Roth has a special interest in scuba diving, which came in handy when he conducted research into the cardiovascular responses of California sea lions at Catalina Island. Other diving expeditions have taken him to the Galapagos Islands, Alaska, the Cayman Islands, Hawaii and his favorite diving spot: Point Lobos at Big Sur. His most recent diving adventure took him from Juneau, Alaska, to Vancouver, British Columbia, onboard the Nautilus Explorer.
When Roth is not in his office, hes equally at home outdoors.
If theres an activity to do outdoors, I enjoy it, Roth said.
I enjoy cross-country and downhill skiing, boating, mountain and road biking, photography, and hiking the backcountry with my wife and my Labs.
Roth earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California. He enjoyed a teaching appointment at the USC School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology. Hes a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Roth is specially trained in laryngoplasty, laser microlaryngoplasty, balloon sinuplasty and has extensive trauma facial reconstruction experience, having trained at the county USC Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Roth can also help with breathing, voice and sinus problems, sleep apnea and allergies. He comes to South Lake Tahoe from his private practice in Santa Monica.
