Reno Aces lose 7-1 Wednesday to Nashville

RENO, Nev. " John Hester drove in a first-inning run for Reno, but that would be the end of the offensive production for the Aces, as the Nashville Sounds came out with a 7-1 victory Wednesday afternoon at Herschel Greer Stadium.

Less than 24 hours after being handed a shutout by the Sounds, Reno jumped out to a quick lead. With two outs already recorded in the first, Trent Oeltjen singled, stole second and moved to third on an error. That brought Hester to the plate, who singled through the hole at second to chase home Oeltjen for an early 1-0 Aces lead.

From there, though, the Reno offense was held silent over the game's final eight frames.

Aces starter Hector Amrbiz (0-2) was pinned with the loss, though he kept his team in the game, allowing three runs on nine hits over five innings of work.

The win went to Sounds starter Chase Wright (2-4), who scattered a run on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

The series will continue Thursday night from Nashville. Reno will trot out RHP Cesar Valdez (1-3, 7.48 ERA), and the Sounds will counter with RHP Nick Green (2-2, 4.36 ERA). First pitch from Greer Stadium is set for 5 p.m. PT.
