Biz Beat: New center offers fibromyalgia help

A South Shore couple are using their expertise to open a wellness center.

Integrated Wellness Center and Spa opened at the end of May, said Dan Brady, who owns the center with his wife, Marcel.

They are both chiropractors and have backgrounds in wellness and sports care, but have been specializing in fibromyalgia relief for the past few years.

The center provides fibromyalgia treatment, chiropractic services, massage therapy, sports medicine and holistic care.

“Our goal is to integrate as many services as we can, to accommodate everybody in one place,” Dan Brady said.

Many specialists live in the area, and the Bradys want to take advantage of those potential partnerships.

Eventually the Bradys want to provide hyperbaric oxygen care, too.

Marcel Brady offers active release, which is a soft tissue massage technique that helps reduce scar tissue in muscles.

“It helps athletes with injuries get back on track faster,” Marcel Brady said.

For the month of June, the center is offering free services for clients’ first visits, Dan Brady said. Every Wednesday at 6 p.m., the center will have free lectures on fibromyalgia.

The center will also celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with food, free massages and a raffle. Tahoe Gymnastics members will also perform.

The center’s regular hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. It’s at 2608 Lake Tahoe Blvd., between Carson and Reno avenues. For more information, call (530) 544-1600.

City receives $300,000 for business assistance

The city of South Lake Tahoe has received a $300,000 grant for small businesses, officials announced Tuesday.

The grant is from the California Housing and Community Development Department Community Development Block Grant program. The funds will be used to continue the city’s technical assistant program, which helps small businesses with consulting services, financial advice, printed materials and Web sites.

For more information, or to participate in the program, call Nancy Ficco at (530) 542-7413 or Nancy Kerry at (530) 542-6043.
